Network-based economic and communication processes are at the heart of the Xinnovations 2008 Berlin, August 21, 2008 – the first Xinnovations held at the Humboldt University of Berlin from 22-24 September 2008. Target groups of the event include developers and users of Web-based information technologies. The independent “Innovation Forum where economic and communication processes”, which is funded by the Federal Ministry for education and research in the framework of “Enterprise region”, the BMBF initiative to new countries is included in the event. The Innovation Forum to contribute science and politics to the networking of actors in economic, that each specialise in areas such as E-Health, E-education, E-justice, E-Government or E-collaboration. They should lead to the exchange of information about innovative products for Internet-based applications within the framework of ideas and cooperation market there to promote the exploitation of r & d results across networks and eventually stimulate lasting cooperation networks and develop.

Another with the promotion of related goal is to xmlcity the results and structures of the nucleus of growth from 2001 to 2007, also in the framework of the BMBF initiative funded: to provide berlin with new impulses and to consolidate. The Innovation Forum is performed two-phase. First Conference held within the framework of the Xinnovations a face-to-face event with information and networking opportunities of the networks represented at the Conference. In the aftermath, evaluated the potential of networking and concretised through one-day thematic workshops at the Freie UNIVERSITT Berlin in November 2008. The company is connected with the free University by a far-reaching cooperation agreement, its business purpose is the informatical research and research-related services. During the Forum, Prof. Tolksdorf cooperates with the with organizers of the Xinnovations: Prof. Johann-Christoph Freytag of Humboldt Universitat zu Berlin and Rainer Thiem of the Xinnovations e. V. The Berlin-based IT-oriented competence networks are also involved in the preparation for the event: Amt24, health capital Berlin-Brandenburg and Vikora.
