In 2001 public Wingspan, a documentary that tells the story of Wings. The same year tour comes to light a new studio album, Driving Rain. On October 20, 2001 joined The Concert for New York City, in homage to victims of the trip 11-S.
Barely a month later, on November 29, 2001, George Harrison died of a cancer victim. A year later, on November 29, 2002, participated in a concert tribute to his partner, performing “Something” with a ukulele, as well as “All Things Must Pass”, “For You Blue” and “While My Guitar Gently Weeps.”

During most of 2002 was involved in an extensive world tour that took him to the United States, Mexico and Japan. In February 2008, McCartney was awarded the Brit Award for his musical career. During his visit to Israel, McCartney also visited the Church of the Nativity in Bethlehem, where fire candles for peace between Israelis and Palestinians.

On November 6, McCartney has won the honor of the MTV Ultimate Legend in Liverpool, his hometown.
